The Governor of Arizona, Douglas Ducey, has issued a proclamation acknowledging the importance of cancer registrars in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. As Cancer Registrars Week approaches, take some time to celebrate your work and your accomplishments and share with your colleagues in the fight.

Welcome and Happy New Year! The electronic membership registration opens today (the paper registration form is always available because paper is eternal). Please take a moment to renew your membership. As we have in previous years, early bird registration (January 2015) applications will be entered into a raffle. The 2015 Executive Board will be meeting this month. Your newly elected board is eager to hear from you. Contact names and information have been updated throughout the webpages.
Hello! The CRAAZ Fall meeting is open to registration and this year we are offering 12 CE credits over a two day event. The slate of speakers and fee schedule is available on the website under the Events tab. http://craaz.info/events/
The speakers will be covering a number of interesting and diverse topics that will address new techniques in clinical care as well as registry protocols. Attend one or both days! Registration for both days includes a 10% discount. There will be prize drawings for those that register during the Early Bird timeframe. The CRAAZ Business meeting will be held over lunch on the first day. We look forward to seeing our friends and colleagues face to face!

April 7th kicks off National Cancer Registrars Week with the NCRA theme this year being Cancer Registrars: Steadfast in an Evolving Environment. Don’t we know it! Adapting every day to clinical breakthroughs, changes in data collection standards and information technology methodologies keep us all on our toes. Your contribution has never been more vital to the understanding of cancer incidence and outcomes. Please take a moment to download the official State of Arizona proclamation for Cancer Registrars Week. Iris Castro, BSBA, CTR worked with the governor’s office to secure recognition for your efforts. Thank you Iris!
A reminder that the membership renewal period ends on the 31st. Applications will be closed as of April 1. Also, we have a date and venue for the Fall meeting. We have booked the Sonntag Pavilion again for October 9th and 10th. Please let us know what topics you would like to have discussed at the meeting.
The Board is very happy to announce the winner of the 2014 membership drive drawing is Rose Ross, CTR of Banner Healthcare. Rose was notified today and we are making arrangements to deliver her new IPod. We will be having a similar drawing during early registration this year for the annual meeting. If you have suggestions for desirable prizes please let us know. Congratulations Rose!

As I exit the presidential role for 2013 I just want to extend my thanks to the members of the CRAAZ board and the members of the organization who made this a productive and satisfying year. The women of the 2013 board (Kyle Coppola, Lori Grobe, Sandie Steen, Melanie Zaleski, Mary Stumbough, Valeri Martin, Lorna Niven and Nadine Wright) are professional, thoughtful and dedicated leaders and mentors who brought their individual strengths to the organization and shared them freely. Board and non board members alike made this experience educational and above all fun! I realize this may not be the usual use of the word fun, but I assure you our board meetings rocked! Thank you again for a wonderful experience.
